Coaching
Ringette coaches come from all walks of life but have a common passion for the fastest game on ice. If you’re interested in becoming a ringette coach and helping out on a team, you can start by taking the right course to gain your certification.
Introduction
Below you'll find a description of the training and certification standards for coaches. This program is subject to change so check back often. For a current list of coaching clinics around the province, visit BC Ringette's Coaching Clinics page.
Descriptions and Definitions

| CABC | The Coaches Association of British Columbia. Visit http://www.coaches.bc.ca to login using your CC# and check your certifications. |
| CAC | The Coaching Association of Canada. Key partner in the delivery of Canada ’s National Coaching Certification Program. |
| CBET | Competency Based Education and Training. This is a new methodology used to design the new NCCP. |
| CSI | Community Sport Initiation: Qualifies you to coach at B or C level from Bunny to Open age divisions. |
| IC | Introduction to Competition: Qualifies you to coach at the A level for age divisions Bunny and Novice. |
| IC+G | Introduction to Competition plus Gradations: In conjuction with IC, qualifies you to coach at the A level from Petite to Open and AA up to and including Tween. |
| IC+G (Certified) | Introduction to Competition plus Gradations: (trained and certified) In conjuction with IC (Certified), qualifies you to coach at the AA level from Junior to Open. |
| NCCP | National Coaching Certification Program. The NCCP is NOT an organization, it is a program. |
| Trained | A course has been completed. For example, a coach that has completed the Community Sport Initiation course is considered trained in Community Sport Initiation but not certified |
| Certified | The process of being evaluated one-on-one by a BC Ringette approved evaluator |
| Completion | All courses must be completed in their entirety to gain credit |

All the courses mentioned above are Ringette-specific and available only from the BC Ringette Association. Alternative courses are available at local colleges but are not ringette-specific. They include:

Requirements for Females on the bench
1. Bunny, Novice, Petite, Tween, Junior of all levels
•
Must have one female coach, she must be 19 years of age or older
if she is the Head Coach or is the only female on the bench.
2. Belle
•
One female bench staff 19 years of age or older.
3. Open
•
Does not require there to be a female on the bench.
